Namibia Desert Discovery 8 Days

After an early breakfast this morning, we will meet our guide and hit the road. Today we are heading to eastern Etosh, and on arrival at the park gate mid-afternoon, we can enjoy our first taste of the park.
Etosha National Park is one of Southern Africa’s premier game parks and a wildlife enthusiast’s paradise.
This afternoon will drive from waterhole to waterhole as they support a rich diversity of animals. These waterholes are one of the most unique aspects of Etosha National Park, and a major attraction for wildlife photographers and animal behaviour experts, as the different species of animals, both predator and prey alike, can often be captured (on camera) drinking at the same waterhole.
We exit the park just before sunset and check into our accommodation on the private Onguma Reserve, just outside Etosha.”

Today will be devoted to exploring the park and maximising our chances for amazing wildlife sightings. We start with an early breakfast before heading into the park for a full day of game driving. From the Von Lindequist Gate, we will make stops at the Etosha Pan lookout, Halali, before arriving at Okaukuejo late afternoon, where we can stretch our legs by the camp waterhole before continuing out of the park for the night.

After breakfast, we depart the Etosha area and begin our journey through Damaraland to Swakopmund.
Along the way, we have the chance to meet the Herero, Damara, and the Himba people. We will make stops at the Herero Craft market, a great chance to buy some handcrafted souvenirs, before stopping at a Himba Village where we can learn more about this fascinating tribe.
We then continue our adventure and arrive on the Skeleton Coast late afternoon, where we can enjoy a definite change of temperature as we jump out of the vehicle to view the Zeila Shipwreck. From here, it’s a short drive to Swakopmund, where we spend the night. Time permitting, we can enjoy a walk through the small city before heading out for dinner (own expense) at any of the excellent restaurants.

After an early breakfast, we drive to Walvis Bay and check in at the Mola Mola office by 7:30 AM. We meet our guides and start a 4×4 adventure to Sandwich Harbour. Along the way, we stop at the Walvis Bay Lagoon to see flamingos and visit the famous pink lakes. We then drive along the beach and through the dramatic dunes of Sandwich Harbour, with stunning views of the desert and ocean. We return to Walvis Bay around midday.
In the afternoon, we travel through the Gaub and Kuiseb passes into the Namib Desert. We stop at Solitaire for a short break and photo opportunity, then continue to our hotel. If time permits, we visit Elim’s Dune for sunset.

A very early start this morning for our Sossusvlei excursion. We aim to leave our lodge before sunrise to ensure that we are among the first to enter the national park. We head directly to the 4×4 car park, and we can then explore this area on foot, with a walk around Dead Vlei and Sossusvlei, and for the adventurous, a hike up Big Daddy, the tallest dune in the region, offering breathtaking views of the sand sea that is the Namib Desert. By midday, we make our way back to camp, where we can enjoy lunch and a little siesta before heading out again to explore the Sesriem Canyon, and then back into the park to take in the sunset from Dune 45.

Today marks our final day in the Namib Desert, and we can choose to either have a leisurely morning with a lie-in and late breakfast, or instead choose to start the day early with an optional hot air balloon flight or return to Dead Vlei for a final visit.
We hit the road no later than 11h00, making our way back to Windhoek and arriving late afternoon, where we say goodbye to our guide and settle in for our last night in Namibia. Dinner tonight is at your own expense.

Transfer to Windhoek International Airport in time for the outbound flight.
